Here's a photo of Tower Bridge from our trip to London last weekend. I can't even tell you how many times we went across it.

photo(s) of the week: falkirk wheel & william wallace monument
A few weekends ago, we took a day trip to the Falkirk Wheel in Central Scotland. The wheel is a rotating boat lift that uses very little power to run - just 22.5 kilowatts. The same as boiling eight kettles of water! The ride was roughly an hour long and rather uneventful, but we're glad to have experienced the only rotating boat lift in the world.

photo(s) of the weekend: scone palace peacocks and highland cattle
Hello again! I'm working on a blog schedule since I tend to sneak away from time to time, and B and I are thinking about adding budget travel tips. What are you interested in reading?
In the meantime, here are a few adorable photos from our weekend.

photo(s) of the week: forth road bridge & forth rail bridge
On our way back from the Scottish borders, we stopped for dinner in South Queensferry. Most of the historic town's restaurants and pubs are located right on the harbor in between the Forth Road Bridge and the Forth Rail Bridge (red) so the views are breathtaking. Our stop was very brief, so B and I plan on coming back to explore some more.

photo of the week: blue mosque, istanbul
This is one of the many Blue Mosque photos we took in Istanbul, Turkey. The outside looks massive, but the inside of the mosque is even more magnificent with all of the different colors and unique lighting. I will be posting more photos (along with photos of Hagia Sophia) in my Istanbul trip post.
And don't forget to sign up for the necklace giveaway here.

photo of the week: malcolm post-op
Malcolm is not a fan of the cone he
has to wear, but he doesn’t mind the post-operative boiled chicken and
scrambled eggs.

One of our favorite places to explore on the weekend is Forvie beach, one of Scotland's many nature reserves.

photo(s) of the week: cliff trail & dunnottar castle
This coastal trail (lots of cliffs!) from Stonehaven to Dunnottar castle has beautiful views of the North Sea and if you're lucky, you'll even see seals and puffins floating around.
Dunnottar is one of our favorite castles in Scotland because of it's placement on the edge of a massive cliff, and because the ruined fortress has a lot of character and many rooms to explore. I highly recommend a visit.

photo of the week: eilean donan castle
This Scottish castle in the western Highlands is absolutely breathtaking. Unfortunately we were not able to go in (closed for winter), but the view from the outside was worth the visit.

photo of the week: cathedral of st. andrew
We went to the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Fife, Scotland when my family came to visit. St. Andrew's Castle is also in Fife and only minutes away, but we weren't as impressed - the Cathedral caught our attention right away because it's just so beautiful!
